Week 3 | Season Prep Camp

At the Northern Hockey School, we offer a positive hockey experience to help every young athlete move towards reaching their full potential. Our goal is to provide players with the confidence, physical conditioning and technical skills they need to succeed on the ice. Our Season Prep Camp is designed to prepare players of all skill levels for the upcoming hockey season, providing them with the perfect opportunity to develop their skills both on and off the ice. We're passionate about teaching players new skills and improving old ones, while building their confidence in their individual abilities. That's why we're committed to providing hockey instruction that focuses on skill development, game strategy and overall performance. From skating skills to stick handling and shooting, we provide young athletes with the necessary tools to succeed on and off the ice. Our team of coaches is committed to fostering a safe and positive environment where players can push their limits and become better every day.

Key skills will be taught at an age and skill appropriate level that will challenge each player. On-ice skills taught will consist of the following:
  • Balance
  • Power Skating
  • Puckhandling
  • Passing
  • Shooting
  • Agility/Quickness
The Northern Hockey School has been providing quality player instruction in Smithers, BC circa 2004. The school is coached and operated by individuals, with ties to the community, who have been involved with hockey at all levels for the majority of their lives. The Northern Hockey School youth camps are open to players of all genders, and skill levels with birth years falling between 2009-2016. Three separate youth camps are run concurrently split into birth years of 2009-2011, 2012-2013, and 2014-16. Each age group will receive two ice times per day, a dry land training session, a dry surface skill development session and a non-hockey sport game/education session. There will be time set aside each day for a snack and lunch. All players will receive a Northern Hockey School jersey at camp registration. The final day will consist of a game.
